Financial Literacy

Last week we started a program called financial literacy. We started by making our life in 30 years time.  We got to pick if we were married or not, how many children we had, cars, and pets.  Then we got an income card which told us how much we earn each week.  We had to work out our tax and our mortgage.  We then got a budget sheet.  Each week we had to put in our income, take out our tax, pay for groceries and we got a fortune card which could make us pay another bill or give us money.  We did this for four weeks and then we got our monthly bills which were things like insurance, power and internet bill.  We then had to add up our total at the end of the month.  If we had money left over we got to add it to our savings account which has $2000 in it.  If we were in debt we had to take it out of our savings account to get to a $0 balance.  I luckily had money left but most people didn't.
I liked that I didn't go bankrupt and I learnt how real life works.
